Shuwen Yang is a multimedia artist whose work explores corporeal relationships and philosophical theories through a diverse range of handcrafted techniques. Working with sewing, painting, textiles, ceramics, and photography, her practice exists at the intersection of art, fashion, and materiality.
Guided by an expressionistic and maximalist sensibility, Yang’s work exudes a vivid sense of tactility and dimensionality. Her process—rooted in the ethos of art as meditation—reimagines traditional and ancient techniques within a contemporary framework, allowing material and meaning to evolve through embodiment and introspection.
